New Facets Added to the Karaoles Diversity Gem

This was a hasty but surprisingly organized surprise outing - taking many by surprise. What it lacked in preparation time it gained in gusto. Rhonda had some things to celebrate and she was not shy about pursing it. Not only did she provide the occasion, she provided some new faces...Dave, Mark, Ryan and Jeff. Good men to have in a tight spot. Seasoned veterans with their own unique approaches and opinions... Karaoles is nothing without its commitment to Diversity and These Boys, indeed, added one or two new facets to Karaoles Diversity Gem.

Jimmy was reserved but watchful. Jimlet was not present on what turned out to be a pretty crowded night. A couple of office parties, a Birthday Party and a LLWLs table. Busy Up Front and in the Rear. Mrs. Jimmy had to fill in.

We hung back a bit to let the Birthday Party rotation burn itself out a bit... then we launched our own salvo. Even then we got our rotation jammed roughly. But it all turned out okay.

Really no Regulars... they must have been driven into the shadows by a pretty typical collection of Office/Birthday Party Tourists.

THE LINE UP
Mr Brett: SUSPICIOUS MINDS (big hit with the Parties)
Joe: (chose to sit this one out)
Rhonda: BABY GOT BACK (shameless and effective LWLL pandering - dirty dancers were inspired to... dirty dance)
Lisap: ONE WAY OR ANOTHER (classic stylings... no motion - eyes on screen. putting it all into the music - got a big reaction)
Chris: NORWEGIAN WOOD (crickets)

Congrats to Rhonda and Good to see ya Boys... Don't be strangers... hope to see you one of these Rs @ K's for K

The Island of Dr Kareau

Overall a Quiet Night... I was greeted by a typically meth'ed up Little Jimmy with a HL thrust into my face the second I came in the door. You can say what you want about Lil'Jimmy but he has a memory like a meth'ed out elephant.

It having been a while, we were slow to warm to the idea of "performing" so we chatted in the back a bit and surveyed the book and the "crowd" leisurely while Mr Magoo-san entertained us from the Olivia Newton-John songbook. It was him and KG, Jr for at least 30 minutes - Interesting but unsustainable.

We did a quick rotation to sort of get back in the mood.

Then He (It?) was spotted. You know how animals are different than people? They have a different vibe... A little removed - less "engaged" in what is going on amongst us humans. Such an individual was spotted and clearly must have been concocted by Jimmy in his laboratory/kitchenette that he uses to create human/animal hybrids and orders of French Fries.

This individual definitely was crossed with some higher rodent. Ferret? Squirrel? Marmot? Unclear... his "hair" was "peltish" and sleek, shiny and shetland pony-colored with a unnaturally low hairline. His eyes were beady and his nose was Moist and Inquisitive. He appeared to be able to carry a conversation with his friend so he is at least 50% human or 50% hillbilly or a little bit of both. The overall effect was both frightening and alluring. Who doesn't want to pet a Squirrel but at the same time, who isn't convinced they will bite you if you try?

Basically we are now certain that Jimmy is cooking up humanimals in the bar... hence the renaming of Karaoles Kountry Music Inn to The Island of Dr. Kareau...

"It is a hard way, the way of being a man. Sooner or later we all want a thing that is bad. To walk on all fours. To suck up High Life from a bottle. To jabber, instead of saying the words. To go snuffling at the Songbook, and to claw at and bark into a microphone. To eat flesh, or fish. To make love to more than one, every which way. These are all bad things. These are not the things that men do. But we are men, are we not? We are men because Jimmy has made us men! " The Island of Dr Kareau by KG Wells

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell K

(Inspired by JINGLE BELL ROCK by BOBBY HELMS)

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell K
Jingle bells drink and jingle bells fall
Smokin' and coughin' up bushels of fun
Now the nightmare has begun

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell K
Jingle bells "sing" off jingle bell key
Standing and reading by Jingle KG
Someone better pick up Marie.

What a fine time, and it's high time
To K the night away
Jingle bell K is a swell way
To wish you hadn't wokeup, the very next day

Giddy-up people, pick up your "feet"
Karaole around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the joint on Clark Street
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell K.
