She Seemed Terrestrial Enough...
Some New Faces helped spark some new enthusiasm from the Old Hands. A woman who didn't deny being The Alien Sister came in with The Alien. She seemed terrestrial enough... but... well you know, she would want us to think that. Very pleasant, very approachable and nice to talk to - hard to believe she comes from the same stock as the Alien... oh well. We spent a bit of time remanising with the Alien about some of his on-stage bloopers and times when he got the hook. It brought to mind the time I attempted PSYCHO KILLER forgetting that there is a lot of French and that I don't know French. Turns out the French parts are kind of important to the flow and continuity of the song. I think some of our stories might have discouraged The Alien Sister from attempting her own debut. Oh well, I say if you are going to enter a Show Business Career, you need to do it with both eyes open... nuff said
Rhonda brought some former and existing clients in order to impress them, I suppose. Of course no one can resist the charms of Karaoles and Karaoke. So I would say in terms of the impressing clients goal: Mission Accomplished.
Rhonda's sister, Dawn, made a triumphant return to the stage. It is always pleasant to see her. Dawn Fun Fact: Dawn aspires to be a Long Haul Trucker - apparently the fringe benefits are too great for her to resist.
It was a pretty crowded night. Jimmy at the helm, as usual - he was very quick to introduce himself to all the new lady-folk in our party - what a gentleman. BikerBouncer was poised to.. well *bounce*. There was a new bartender-in-training - taking the Mrs. Jimmy/Lil'Jimmy slot. Rhonda and Dawn gave him his own character name: "(I can't remember, but it was funny)". There was a new Jimlet too... I haven't seen her before. Maybe with all the gentrification going on around there they are trying to class up the place with some new blood. Unfortunately it seems that they still need to swim a little farther out in the gene pool... these new faces don't stray too far from the slack-jaw yokels that we have grown so accustomed to serving us and making our stay pleasant and safe at Karaoles.
Lots of tourists and parties. No obvious LWLLs or bikers - which was a bummer
Very few regulars... Karaole and her turnip nose was there. But that was about it.
Basically the level of play was pretty low... We did very little to raise the bar. The Bigtime Jam was on... so we left numbers on the table when we left at around midnight.
THE LINE UP
The Alien: SHOULD I STAY (OR SHOULD I GO)?, SWEET CAROLINE - pretty good reaction - not surprising since it was such obvious pandering
The Alien Sister: (chose to sit this one out)
The Alien Sister Significant Other: (chose to sit this one out)
Rhonda: DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA (duet with sister, Dawn - resulting in immediate Flashlighting from Jimmy!), BABY GOT BACK
Dawn: DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA (duet with sister, Rhonda)
Friends of Rhonda: (A Dixie Chicks song as a duet)
Chris: RING OF FIRE, LAY LADY, LAY
See you next R @ K's for K
