UPDATED: The Justice League: Generation FeedBurner
UPDATE: Added Rachelle's blog post about this VERY SAME EVENING (see below in THE LINE UP)
A very interesting night. Lots of new people, lots of new "performers". It felt like the same Crime Fighting but with some New Faces sitting around the Superhero Conference Table - The African American guy with the power of time travel... the androgynous asian twins with the power of ???. These combined with the usual Superman, Batman and Scoobie Doo(??!!).
It was a slow build up... I arrived and was greeted by Jimmy in his usual sagely way. I made some idle chit chat with Jimmy and contemplated the scope and breath of the information contained on his belt a bit. Joanne, Mrs Jimmy, Jimmlet, BikerBouncer... felt like coming home.
Knocked back a couple before Paul and Kate arrived. Paul immediately ordered a Pretty Beer in a commerrative bottle.
Matt Shobe joined the ranks soon after. Then the flood of happy hour partyers from FeedBurner swaggered in with grand style.
Joanne had a few choice things to "peform" - the typical TEAR IN MY BEER, but also a couple other HW Sr. numbers as well.
No KG... but we were in the, what are becoming, capable hands of KG Jr. Though I had initial misgivings about "the mix" ("hot" monitors, "cool" PA), Alden straightened my out... If you hear yourself and you suck, you back it off and if you suck no one has to suffer if the PA is low... never thought of it that way. I always think I sound great...
It was a good singer's night, lots of audience but few Crime Fighters - there was some jamming later... but I think that had more to do with KG jr's relative inexperience.
Soon we were hitting the book hard and submitting the slips fast and furious. Joe and I set a early low bar with a "duet". Joe was definitley Moved by the Spirit last night. He let loose a barrage of "performances". I was tempted to ask Jimmy for the "rattler" he keeps behind the bar for such times so Joe could Take It Up and Prophesize.
Paul jumped in with a couple of inspired choices as well - demonstrating a flair for "performance execution"... but like all Great Crime Fighting Teams - It was all about cooperation and combining forces. The list of "duets" is dizzying.
I must say that the FeedBurner Generation of the Justice League can hold it's own.
My favorite Other Performer was a LWLLs who, with her powerful frame, was able to do a really suprisingly great baritone version of Queen's SOMEBODY TO LOVE.
And just when you thought you were too full for dessert... who to my wandering eyes should appear from the myst? MR BRETT. A great site for sore eyes... always a pleasure and a priviledge (and a naughty thrill) to dwell in his Presence.
Enough talk let's get to the line up
